Straight to dvd pretty much sums up this effort from first time producer director Craig Newland. This film had such historical potential but first time hubris hindered what ultimately could have been an entertaining story

Interesting film about a fight for freedom of the airwaves
I just saw 3 Mile Limit at the Cleveland International Film Festival. It was an interesting story from New Zealand in the 1960s about a pirate radio station set up in an old boat three miles from shore in international waters because the government would not give them a license to play new music like the Beatles, etc.
Richard Davis assembles a group as passionate as he is about getting new, modern music on the air. I loved the spirit and courage of the radio station organizer and the DJs he recruited. And I admired their tenacity in the fight to get the music they wanted to hear played on the airwaves despite many challenges.
The soundtrack of the movie was wonderful too.
A true New Zealand Gem
Loved this NZ made movie, didn't have any expectations, so was pleasantly surprised by this gem. It had a bit of everything for me, adventure, humor, romance, and a good story line.
Loved Matt Whelan! Good to see a mostly New Zealand cast.
I can see why this film is winning International Film Awards. Would be nice if it got the same recognition in New Zealand. The movie left me feeling good after wards and made me appreciate that we can now listen to any music station we wish to tune in to, thanks to the determination of a few very brave Radio Pirates. This movie definitely has a very New Zealand flavor which is very refreshing to see.
