The views of the wilderness are lovely as are the shots of the wildlife. There are a lot of fabulous home grown films out there; this is not one of them. Probably done with high school kids, directed by high school kids. Everyone has to learn somewhere, but even the adult acting was bad. I skimmed through it just to get it done. My biggest grievance is that they were heavy on the religion and that was truly nauseating. It's one of those "you're lost in the wildness and about to die, but prayer will save you". Typical BS, christian films portraying non christians as bad people until they believe in god and they then good. Nasty beggars; full of lies as usual.

Plot summary
Six teenagers learn how fast their comfortable, self-centered lives can transform into a life-threatening lesson of survival, as an ill-prepared afternoon snowboarding trip turns tragic with injury and sub-zero temperatures. Discord and teenage angst poison the atmosphere of a small town, whose residents are soon to learn the importance of faith and unity to their very existence. 48 Below was written, filmed and produced on the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska, and captures the Alaskan teenage culture as never before. Based on a true story.

Well, the scenery was nice
Bless 'em for trying
That's what I kept thinking through this: bless 'em for trying. It really is very poor in all sorts of ways, however I liked the soundtrack and the scenery of Alaska was pretty interesting. So 2/10.
Somewhat unfair to judge this by modern filmmaking standards. You can now go onto tictoc, you tube, etc and find some pretty good quality amateur productions that are really watchable and well done. I suspect that when this was made that wasn't the case? You can tell people worked hard on it but it's more school project than movie. And as a Christian I found some of the theology, particularly towards the end, bordering on the disturbing.
Springtime in Alaska
It's hard to fault the cinematography of the Alaska in 48 Below, but the rest of 48 Below is strictly amateur hour.
I suppose few enough films are shot in that rugged corner of the USA so an A must be given for effort. I'm also betting that some players with more of a name weren't induced to shoot in this area.
Purportedly based on a true incident of six teenagers who go snowboarding and get themselves lost. Now if six locals raised in that area their whole lives could have that happen to them imagine what could happen to us tenderfeet in this same situation.
The kids all go to a local Christian school and attend THE Christian church in the place. God help LGBT kids in this town which could have passed I'm sure for Sarah Palin's Wasilla.
Rescue scenes are nice the acting and directing some of the worst.
