I watched this because I thought it would try to get into the heart of the issues surrounding East Germans who sought to cross to the west in the days just before the Berlin Wall came down.

It started promisingly enough, but then ran somewhat off the rails with an unnecessarily complicated love angle that lost the thread of the movie. It didn't get back to the point, that Adam wasn't comfortable having to fend for himself in the west, until the last few minutes of the movie.

So, sure, watch it, some of the performances are good (Anne Kanis, in particular),but don't expect it to do any more than scratch the surface of the original premise.
