I can't believe I actually finished watching this dog. Poorly acted, lousy dialogue cheap effects, Bruce Willis and Adrian Brody should be ashamed of themselves.

Worst Movie
Tedious
THE BOMBING is another laughable slice of propaganda from mainland China, this time taking the form of a WW2 epic along the lines of PEARL HARBOR. It'll have you believe that the fledgling Chinese air force proved more than a match for their Japanese enemy, although of course anyone who knows history will know this is a very skewed and jingoistic view of the truth. The film is lengthy and dull, let down by cartoonish CGI effects used to depict the dogfights and an in-it-for-the-cheque Bruce Willis. Nicholas Tse, Simon Yam and Fan Bingbing are there for name value but have very little screen time, and overall this is tedious stuff.
at least Bruce is not sleepwalking
It's 1943 China. The Chinese Nationalist Government has retreated to the city of Chongqing after the fall of Nanjing. The city is under constant bombing and protected by a few raw Chinese pilot recruits led by American military flyer Jack (Bruce Willis).
This movie basically has four main groups. The movie should concentrate on the pilots group. The truck group could be an interesting movie of its own. The tea house group does nothing for most of the movie and seems more intent on being the man-on-the-street human story. The hospital group is unnecessary and only there for American actors Adrien Brody and Rumer Willis.
The truck group could be an interesting Stagecoach like movie. It has the structure and one can fill it up with interesting characters. That part of the story could exist on its own. I wouldn't mind someone like Tarantino do something with it. The dialogue is a little clunky. In general, the story works even with the questionable MacGuffin.
The main story is the pilots group. The CG looks ten years old. The air battles are chaotic and fail to show individual flyers. The Chinese characters are mostly non-descript. At least, Bruce is awake for this one but he's still doing some bad acting. Honestly, this is not unexpected but it is disappointing. There is so little thought to the writing that Jack doesn't even have a title. Only one guy has any memorable story after losing his brother. It's all an uninspiring mess.
