A stage for Ledisi

There is a cute twist on establishing the fake engagement. After that the story is fairly standard with no great highs or lows or surprises. It revolves around Lisette's dad's retirement and the last performance at his club. . There is a side story on the animosity between Lisette and an entertainment writer, Gia, which dates back to high school in their home town.

The acting is OK and likewise the dialogue. The chemistry between Ledisi and Roger Cross is decent.

The hook in this movie is the singing of Ledisi and she sings several times. If you like her music you will probably enjoy this movie.

Different and Good!

Summary: R&B singer Lisette is struggling with her record label's vision for her music career. When her ex-boyfriend, Matthew, gets mistaken in the media for her fiancé, the two go back home to Lisette's family in New Orleans for Christmas. A fake engagement mixed with the Mardi Gras Christmas vibes are just what the two need to truly understand their past real relationship and each other.

MeetCute: At an outdoor Christmas Festival with various booths, foods, and dancing, Lisette bends down to pick up a ring she dropped when Matthew gets on his knee after retrieving it, looking like a marriage proposal. We learn that Matthew, the previous producer of her Grammy-winning album, broke up with Lisette after 2 years of dating. Matthew's back freezes in this position and Lisette helps him up, as she rolls her eyes.

A reporter, Gia Cole, spots the picture of Matthew on his knee giving a ring to Lisette and reports it as a marriage proposal!

Almost Kiss: Lisette massages Matthew's shoulders because they're hurting him. She tells him that she was guarded during their real relationship due to the mess of her past heartbreak.

Matthew admits he did not just come to Lisette's home for the publicity, insinuating that he still loves her. They lean in to kiss each other when Lisette's brother interrupts and tells Lisette that Zac, her manager, is calling her.

Decorating the Christmas Tree: The three kids each decorate their own Christmas Tree.

The Fourth Christmas Tree is decorated by the entire family. Matthew and Lisette unload the Christmas Tree and bring into the house before sharing a "moment."

The entire family decorates the tree with Mardi Gras colors, purple, green and gold. Ornate ornaments, beads, ribbons, and sparkling balls. Matthew puts the gold Christmas Star at the top.

The family then puts the Christmas presents under the tree and Matthew turns the Christmas Tree lights on.

Ending Kiss: Matthew's record label investor wants Lisette at their label. Lisette's manager forwards her an article that reports an inside source says Lisette is dropping her current label and moving to Matthew's label.

Lisette is beyond upset and Matthew leaves to a hotel. Her family overhears their conversation about everything, including the fake engagement.

Lisette finds Matthew enjoying New Orleans Christmas Carolers and the two confess their love for each other and kiss.

At the Christmas Eve Concert, Abner plays the piano, Clay, her brother, plays drums, and Lisette sings a delightful song about being home at Christmas to a dress-up and pleased crowd.

During Gia Cole's family interview, Abner tells us that their three children will take over running the All Saints Club. Lisette is not going to commit to a label and explore creative opportunities.

Matthew gets down on one knee with his Grandmother's ring and proposes to Lisette, for real. The entire family claps in excitement and they discover that it has begun to snow!
