Another Chipmunks movie. It's about what you would expect, no better or worse. If you hated the others, you'll hate this. If you loved the others, you'll likely love this one, too. I am somewhere in the middle. I haven't loved any of these movies but they don't tick me off like they seem to many other people. It's the kind of movie I'll watch once, maybe laugh a few times, but never want to see again. About the only noteworthy moment from the movie is a rather gross scene where Simon is stuck in a guy's pant leg and proceeds to defecate and urinate. Yeah, we actually see Chipmunk pee and poop. It wasn't a funny scene (unless maybe you're 7 or something). It was more disturbing than anything else. Other than that oddity, it was a par-for-the-course Chipmunk sequel. You'll probably forget all about it a day after watching.

Entertaining kids' movie
When Dave introduces new girlfriend Samantha, the Chipmunks are pleased. However, when her son Miles turns out to be a bit of a bully, they are less pleased. So when Dave takes Samantha to Miami with, it appears, the intention of proposing, the Chipmunks decide they have to follow and sabotage the proposal. Since they cannot fly (due to lunatic Air Marshall Suggs getting them banned from flying),this means a road trip across the country with Miles providing the accompanying "adult" they need. It turns out that Miles has some issues, and, well, I bet you can guess what unwinds during the trip.
My knowledge of the Chipmunks ended donkeys' years ago, with their old records, and I hadn't seen any of the three previous movies in this series. I was pleasantly surprised. This is bright, cheerful, pleasing nonsense for kids, with lots of silliness, a tolerable plot with a decent development arc for Miles, some surprises when things don't go quite as you'd expect, and a moderate amount of tuneful, toe-tapping music. The Chipmunks themselves are all strongly established character types, voiced by good actors (although Matthew Gray Gubler is the only one I recognised through the squeakification of his voice),and brilliantly animated and integrated into the live action plates.
If you are determined to be an adult then there is stuff to be picky about – I'm pretty sure you're not allowed to legally adopt Chipmunks, for instance – but then, I'm also pretty sure that Chipmunks don't talk and sing and, if you have trouble with that, you really shouldn't be watching this film, should you? This is a really enjoyable family movie.
no expections and no hopes
Dave (Jason Lee) goes to Miami and brings along girlfriend Samantha (Kimberly Williams-Paisley). The boys are bullied by her teenage son Miles who convinces them that Dave is about to propose to Samantha in Miami. They and Miles set off to stop them. On the plane, the boys cause an emergency landing and angry Air Marshal Suggs (Tony Hale) puts them on the no-fly list. It's a road trip with avenging Suggs on their tails. Meanwhile, the Chipettes are judges on American Idol.
I'm not a fan of the Chipmunks. I have no expectations and sadly, I have no hopes for this franchise. I'm glad that the Chipettes aren't in the main plot although they managed to get in the side door. They should either be fully incorporated or cut out of the movie. I really don't like Miles and that makes this movie impossible even as he starts to turn nice. The premise would work much better if the proposal is real. I don't think this is good even for little fans of the Chipmunks.
