This is one of Pere Ponce's first starring roles together with Ariadna Gil, both of who are talented and well respected Spanish actors.
The story follows Pedro over several years in his on and off relationship with Sara as well as his problems in gaining economic independence from his parents in Spain's precarious job market. Sara is a very attractive and free woman who has lots of men trailing after her and who has problems with commitment, but whose morality and lifestyle is really pretty average for the early eighties (during the `movida').
The dialogues are much wittier than average for a Spanish comedic script and the characters are believable and well played. Definitely one of the best romantic comedies produced in Spain in the last ten years.

fear of commitment with a happy ending
Romantic but dated Spanish comedy in which two good and sympathetic starring actors become involved into improbable situations .
Romantic and amusing Dramedy (comedy/drama) with touches of profanity and full of entertainment , humor and sheer amusement . This enticing , funny comedy contains emotion , mirth , and lots of jokes and laughs . The main premise is the following one : Pedro (Pere Ponce) is an unfortunate young who doesn't get a good job , his last one results to be as a ¨Cobrador del Frac¨ , along the way , he goes out searching for a girl , but the night doesn't seem to be good . While he is talking with a friend, he sees Sara (Ariadna Gil) , a young veterinary , breaking up with a boy (Javier Bardem) . He goes after her , and they end up sleeping in his house . Time goes by and they go on together , but then things get worse . As the classic plot about boy falls for girl , and boy loses girl , as they join again and separate over and over , spreading throughout the film . That's why Sara has too many men around and she fears of commitment , as Pablo can't hold that .
Entertaining romantic comedy with fine actors , adequate cinematography , sensitive score and professional direction . This attractive comedy contains emotion , humor , very brief drama and bemusement . The film moves in fits and starts most of which would be desirable , with more traps the viewer resists any kind , and some moments of enjoyment and others quite a few embarrassing . The flick relies heavily on the continued relationship between two starring , about their breaking up and loving relation again and so on ; but it doesn't make boring but entertaining . As the plot develops the peculiar character of Silvia , a young veterinary of doubtful morality surrounded by several men with whom she falls in love at the same time , though the love she feels to Pedro remains alive and dead as well . However , the romantic issue of the protagonists is so repetitive and the most part turns out to be rich in absurdities and implausibilities . Their relation is complex , they love each other ; nevertheles , they can not be together . Fun comedy and its success on the big screen owes much to a number of known actors , including romantic touches here and there and in which humor and entertainment are well guaranteed . The picture attempts to expand optimism about the events of life , culture , differences and love , including its amusing sides . Witty and agreeable screenplay from David Trueba and director Emilio Martínez-Lázaro himself . The roles in this film are all lovable despite being rather pathetic and silly , being well played by Pere Ponce and Ariadna Gil . They are finely accompanied by a good support cast , such as : a pre-Hollywood Javier Bardem , Cassen , Lina Canalejas , Alberto Jimenez , Cayetana Guillén Cuervo , Nancho Novo and cameo by film writer , David Trueba.
Lively and catching musical score by Michel Camilo, including charming song : Tú volverás written by Antonio Carmona, José Miguel Carmona & Juan Carmona performed by Ketama . As well as colorful and brilliant cinematography by José Luis López-Linares . The motion picture was well directed by Emilio Martínez Lázaro, though is inferior than his precedent films and obtained success enough at Spanish Boxoffice . It won some awards , such as : Fotogramas de Plata 1993 Winner Best Movie Actress Ariadna Gil , Ondas Awards 1992 Winner Film Award Best Acting Pere Ponce , Best Acting Ariadna Gil ; Peñíscola Comedy Film Festival 1992 Winner Best Actress Ariadna Gil , Winner Best Film Emilio Martínez Lázaro ; Sant Jordi Awards 1993 Winner Sant Jordi Best Spanish Actress Ariadna Gil . Director Emilio Martinez Lázaro was born in 1945 in Madrid , location in which he often shoots his films . He is a Spanish prestigious cinema director . Emilio is a director and writer, a good filmmaker expert on comedies as he has proved in : Los Peores Años de Nuestra Vida (1994) , El Juego Más Divertido (1998) and Amo Tu Cama Rica (1992) , drama : Las 13 Rosas (2007) La Voz De Su Amo (2001) , Musical as : Al Otro Lado De La Cama (2002) , Los Dos Lados de La Cama (2005) . Being especially known for ¨ 8 Apellidos Vascos¨ considered to be the biggest box office in Spanish cinema and the sequel ¨8 Apellidos Catalanes¨ . Amo tu cama rica , rating : 5.5/10 .
Touching, funny comedy of manners
Well crafted and very funny story, really a new working of the old "boy meets girl, boy loses girl,..." etc. cliché. Nothing you haven't seen before. But the cast goes around their plot so charmingly that you are really taken away. The film established Ariadna Gil as a major actress, was the first major role of Javier Bardem, and had some memorable contributions from Pere Ponce and the rest of the cast.
Infectious, entertaining, and with something really difficult to find in Spanish movies: A believable description of the country and its people. What you see is Spain in 1991, the director really manages to nail down the spirit of the time and the place.
