75 years doesn't change a thing however, hearing first hand and seeing first hand has made difference. Stock film was understood at the time, to see actual footage now makes a difference.
To hear the voices of those who were there at the time, and how they felt, added to the documentary. It brought the viewer into what was an horrific event, the ultimate killing by one person upon another, just because of idology, over a period of 4 - 5 years.
What amazed me was, how those who were there, saw the enemy as themselves, doing a job, whether right or wrong. I was ordered to do, I complied. This was completely different to the cry from the "Nazi" ideal.
I looked at all the other reviews. There was one that filled a screen, and then some. I gave up before the end of the first paragragh, it was so insular.
My everlasting is, the GI giving water to a Japanese child. Take what you want, from that.

Reality Comes To Life
Quality documantary.
This is what I would rate a top documentary. The visuals, the musical score, the storytelling straight from the mouths of the brave souls who fought for their country. There doesn't seem to be much left out. Maybe a little less graphic than I could have handled. War is hell and it's very gory. I understand that are the times we live in and some of the more graphic detail had to be left out but it should have been added anyway to paint a completely accurate picture of what happened back then. We see much, much worse every day on internet sites where graphic content isn't omitted or censored. Regardless, this is a masterpiece. Today's generation has quite a bit to learn about patriotism and sacrifice for ones own country.
Listen to these veterans.
I have to be honest i was expecting the usual re-hash of old footage etc but was surprised with footage i have never seen before and colourised well into the bargain.
It concentrates on the pacific theatre at the end of ww2.
Listening to the veterans describing their horrors and setbacks makes you realise how easy you have it in the modern world and they make some poignant reflections on todays america/world.
Worth a watch.
