Can we say Poppy just one more time?!
A return to form
I liked this episode considerably more than the other reviewers here. It was a return to form in the sense that the plot centered on the town and residents of Lawrenceton, and the cast was mostly in place again, with the exception of Miranda Frigon (the character of Lynn Liggett-Smith).
Lexa Doig (Sally Allison) is still the MVP, IMO. She brings so much energy and humor to this show, it truly suffers when she is absent.
The murder itself was pleasantly complicated, with several possible suspects, who proved less than honest and trustworthy.
The writers, I thought, did a wonderful job of having Aurora defend her skeptical nature to her mother, Aida, who worried that Aurora's suspicious mind made it hard for people to get close to her. Later, in a beautifully written scene, the writers give us a scene between Sally and Aurora, where we witness how Aurora's true friends forgive and appreciate her suspicious, but open mind.
"When they think you're a nonentity they don't think you're capable of murder"
Candace Cameron Bure is back again as our mystery solving librarian Aurora Teagarden. The victim this time is an old friend from way back who is just about to launch her own line of craft products. Though the victim is nice, she also can be quite pushy about getting her own way.
Suspects abound in this for Bure and her reporter sidekick Lexa Doig. The victim was about to get married and suspicion falls on all kinds of people the victim's fiance, her stepmother, her lawyer and others get vetted during the course of the movie. But it's only something that our librarian spots by chance turns their attention to someone no one, not even the cops considered.
There's some truth to what the killer said. Cultivate the persona of a nonentity and you can get away with a lot.
