And these are vampires who drew drink wine... the wine from the vines of human grapes! But they are sophisticated members of The Vampire family, apparently count Dracula and his wife (veteran actors Alex D'Arcy and Paula Raymond),sophisticated and urbane, with Raymond ironically looking Judy Garland going on singing until the sun comes up. Are popular is none other than John Carradine, a former Dracula himself even as of the year before. They have an Igor like servant who does their Dirty work, joined later on by an escaped psychopathic killer who win the film's only truly violent scene shooting a hitchhiker right in the face, literally looking like he blew the guy's head off.
Their castle in the desert is really a rental, featuring a dungeon where they have their victims chained to the wall and literally blood out of them as they require a glass of human wine it's all done with manners too, and that makes this and tree and the Dracula cycle of films one of the most tongue in cheek, surprisingly entertaining for a film that is deeply flawed. Gene Otis Shane and Jennifer Bishopare they unlucky Louis wed couple who come to the castle to tell them that they've inherited it from James grandfather and intend to live there, meeting that the 300 year old couple must find new belfry's to battle in. Normally, I don't find modern set horror films at all interesting, but just has enough Gothic touches and certainly plenty of camp to have kept me interested.

Their veins have tender grapes....
SCREAMS? WHAT SCREAMS?
In the opening scene, Ann (Vicki Volante of "Brain of Blood" fame) has Ford problems. Rather than wait or walk along the highway, she opts to take off into the woods...with heels. She faints at the sight of Mango (Ray Young-Morka of Star trek Deep Space Nine). He is named Mango most likely because Mungo and Eegah have been reserved.
Mungo works as a caretaker for a castle leased by the vampire Townsends (Alexander D'Arcy and Paula Raymond from "The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms") . John Carradine is the butler. The owner of the castle has died and the new owner (Gene Otis Shayne a dancer in the Monkees TV series) and his model girlfriend (Jennifer Bishop of "The Female Bunch") come to check out their new home and toss out the vampires. Also about the same time escaped psychopathic killer Johnny (Robert Dix of "Satan's Sadists") friend to the vampires, comes home to the castle.
The dialog and film was funny for the era. It has a good amount of camp value, some by design. My DVD from a multi-pack was poor quality with green and blue vertical lines throughout. They live at Falcon Rock Castle (say that 3 times real fast) and prefer to be called "Living Dead" as opposed to vampires.
No sex or nudity. In fact the young unmarried couple sleep in separate rooms.
Not 100% terrible.
"Blood of Dracula's Castle" is a terrible movie. But, for an Al Adamson film, it really is amazingly good! After all, he's the same auteur who brought the world crap like "Dracula Versus Frankenstein", "Blood of Ghastly Horror", "Horror of the Blood Monsters", and "Hell's Bloody Devils"...all films which I rated a 1 some time ago! I enjoy laughing at Adamson's films, so when I found "Blood of Dracula's Castle", I decided to give it a watch...although I actually ended up seeing "Dracula's Castle"...which included a bit of additional footage...sort of like a Director's Cut!
A man inherits a castle in California and learns that there are renters there. The renters turn out to be Mr. And Mrs. Dracula and they hang out there with their bloodthirsty staff, including the butler (John Carradine) who procures them young women so that they might drink their blood. They also have a visitor, a wolfman who LIKES killing...even when he's not in wolfman form. When the Draculas learn that they have a new landlord, they decide to kill him and his girlfriend.
Although the acting isn't great and the music, at times, annoying, this is practically Oscar-worthy compared to the films I mentioned above. At least this one isn't 100% terrible....just mostly terrible.
