"Blood on My Name" had the strength of an interesting central character in Leigh Tiller.
Throughout the film, Leigh essentially cannot do anything right. Her young son Ryan is a juvenile delinquent, having blinded a boy in one of his eyes during a fight. Ryan is now on probation, and Leigh is struggling to pay restitution. Leigh's ex-husband is in prison for auto theft. Her father Richard is a cop. There is baggage in Leigh's relationship with her father that is never revealed during the film.
The film opens with an "accidental" (?) murder committed by Leigh when she was apparently attacked in the Tiller auto garage where she works. Eventually, it is revealed that Leigh was continuing her ex-husband's shady operation of motor vehicle theft by changing VIN numbers.
A human side of Leigh emerges when she returns the dead man's body near the trailer where he resided. Presumably, this was out of guilt and compassion so that his family would know that he is dead.
The climactic scene was clumsy in the wild, frenetic action that definitively wraps up the lives of the Tiller clan. There was a bold performance by the actress playing Leigh. But the film as a whole was a depressing and tawdry slice of life that left very little redeeming qualities about the human condition.

Showdown at the Tiller Garage
Family business ... or not family business
When you feel like your path is being ... or already has been chosen for you - just because of who your father is! You might try to fight it or you just go all out on it and cherish in it. Our main character here, tries to fight it ... will she succeed? Can she succeed? And if so, what would that mean? Sometimes it is a case of be careful what you wish for.
I would not say you should do moral conclusions on what you see here. But it sort of makes perfect sense ... and it may make you cringe ... especially the end. Sometimes it is not the worst to take advice ... even if you feel there is another solution to all ... maybe there isn't ... very heavy and very violent and bleak outlook on how life can be ...
Sheer torture
Blood on her Name was 85 minutes of torture for me and I love crime dramas. Tarantino is my favorite director. This is not Pulp Fiction or Reservoir Dogs, two of his best. A white trash woman is shown at the opening covered in blood and holding a very large wrench. A man is lying on the floor of a garage and the killer woman moves the body around against all common sense. Her dad appears to be the only cop in the entire neighborhood and her son is on probation for fighting in school. Oh, and her husband is in jail. There is not one person to identify with for the audience, unless one has just been paroled after completing a sentence for burglary and crack addiction. The ending is ridiculous and this is a truly bad film.
