As a former prison guard in a Texas maximum security state penitentiary in a department where inmates were housed in single cells and some experience as an inmate myself, I found this movie to be worthy of a watch. It is sad as it depicts a man who had his life together and was ultimately found at the wrong place at the wrong time and his leering insanity causes him to question what is real versus what he is imagining. The movie is quite captivating especially given that half of it takes place depicting what he is experiencing in his cell (which is a very accurate depiction similar to real life) and the majority of the rest of the movie is based on his memory of what landed him in prison. The ending would seem happy as he is ultimately released and proven innocent but on the same token, he must live without his wife which is sad in its own right. The writers and producers seemingly did a lot of research to portray an accurate showing of what life is like for both officers and inmates in a prison where segregation is provided as well.

Why?
I totally understand why ppl make films to educate others on something they have never experienced before. But They have meaning, like a movie about endangered birds, so then you go out and donate to the bird cause. As a woman who has been in segregation myself this movie was something I though I would check out. The actor in this movie was very good and personally the only reason why I kept watching until the end. This movie was not sure if it wanted to be a drama or a horror. The c.o in this movie was nice compared to the ones I've encountered! So again I ask why? What was the point of giving someone a BORING look into how ppls can easily go nuts the more isolated they are? To teach you to never go to jail and be segregated?
Now as for the movie it is an hour and some change full of a guy in a cell for murdering his wife. We watch him in his cell the WHOLE time and nothing ever happens to him worth seeing. I will be looking for more movies with this lead actor but that is about it. I would not recommend watching this movie even IF you have the time to kill this one is just so pointless.
It's not mine
Dr. Harlow Reid (Edi Gathegi) has been found guilty of murder. He claims innocence while we get flashbacks to the incident. His wife (Angela Sarafyan) was having an affair because he is a control freak. While in prison he draws the ire of Officer Starks (Melora Hardin ) who uses mental and physical torture on him, placing him in solitary for an extended period of time. During this period, Harlow relives the incident and goes off the chain.
The film was intended to show us how cruel solitary is for prisoners. If they were all innocent and framed by a sadistic guard, sure. But the film never explains what punishment should be enacted to people who are already in prison for rule violation.
