You really can have your Cake and eat it

The story focuses on Claire, a girl suffering with a mental illness, dealing with a tragedy she suffered. Claire attends a help group, they discuss the suicide of young Nina, and Claire soon gets haunted by visions of Nina, and starts looking into why she jumped into a freeway, she becomes entangled in Nina's life in lots of ways.

Seeing Lucy Punch made me smile, she's one crazy girl, only a small part but nice to see her getting into bigger titles.

I'll be honest I chose this title completely at random, having no idea what it was about. I was no major friends fan so I can't compare what she was like then to how she is now, but in this she is fantastic, what a great actress, no wonder they say if you can do comedy you can do anything.

It's a very deep, dark intelligent film, that dares to deal with some of the subjects people don't like to talk about. I really enjoyed it. Am a little reminded of Nurse Jackie. 8/10

Good job but story needs more tension

Claire Bennett (Jennifer Aniston) suffers from constant pain and struggling with a tragic lost. Her housekeeper Silvana (Adriana Barraza) is her constant and mostly her only helper. She goes to a support group where Nina Collins (Anna Kendrick) just committed suicide. After threatening group leader Annette (Felicity Huffman),she gets Nina's address and befriends Nina's husband Roy Collins (Sam Worthington). She's hooked on pain killers and haunted by Nina's presence.

Aniston does a great job. The story isn't much and there is a need for more tension. I am still not sold on Sam Worthington. His character has potential to give Aniston something to play off of but he provides very little. In contrast, William H. Macy has a juicy scene and goes to town on it. This is a simple story that needs something to elevate the danger. It's relying too much on simply will she or won't she.

WHAT DO YOU WANT TO SAY TO NINA

Claire Bennett (Jennifer Aniston) lives in chronic pain. She has scars and we can only guess as to what happened until about an hour into the film when we discover our guess is correct. The film has very little plot as it shows us Claire coping with pain. She is well off and has a house keeper (Adriana Barraza) who tolerates her illegal activities to obtain pain killers. She has alienated her husband and got kicked out of her support group. Nina (Anne Kendrick) was a member of the support group who has committed suicide, a concept Claire entertains. Claire sees and communicates with Anne Kendrick in her hallucinations and dreams, which were far from the dreams I have of Anne Kendrick.

The film takes a sympathetic view to people addicted to pain killers. I think most of us know of someone who for some reason or another love their pain killers dangerously too much. This film is considered a coming out party for Aniston who has been criticized for her frequent Razzie performances. To her credit Aniston played the role well and a giant step in the right direction. Clearly she played a woman who couldn't sit in a chair long enough to get her hair done. As far as the Oscar hype, I though Hilary Swank was far better as an ALS patient (You're not You) and she didn't even get a nod.

Certainly worth a view, particularly for fans of Oxicon.

Guide: F-bomb, brief sex. No nudity
