The movie plot was quite gripping, in my opinion. Provides insight into human trafficking, and in particular underage and illegal immigrants. The acting is quite good, the cinematography was okay. The one bad point was the rape scene. This was quite disturbing to watch particularly in view that this was supposed to be a minor. As noted in other reviews, not for everyone, by any means. This will certainly cause trauma to those who may have experienced something similar.
Overall, I liked the movie, with the exception of the disturbing rape scene.
Plot summary
Set in the mid-90's, it is a dark and brutal story about Eugene, an outcast photographer who becomes obsessed with protecting underage prostitute Josephine. She has escaped a war-torn country only to be trapped in the illegal sex trade by corruption and a powerful underworld criminal named Daddy. For Eugene, Josephine represents a symbol of purity in the darkness - when he takes her photograph there is something captivating about her and she quickly becomes his muse. When a jaded but calculating assistant at an arts magazine, Polly, shows interest in Eugene's photos it could be a way out of the sex trade for Josephine, out of obscurity and rejection for Eugene, and out of a hopeless life for both. But Daddy won't let go of Josephine and crossing the powerful pimp means danger and death. How far will Eugene go for recognition and a chance to achieve his dream? Is Eugene saving Josephine? Or is he using her?

Has some good points and one BIG bad point
Garbage
Complete and utter garbage. Unwatchable garbage. Why is it black and white. Oh does that make it an art film. Yeah right. I don't think Australia should make movies. They're always garbage.
Cringy Acting
Cringworthy acting. None of the characters were likable. The story and the decisions made by the characters are illogical.
But the B/W cinematography was decent. Unfortunately, the film in whole fails for me.
