I don't know much, but I know quality when I see it. In a world of glossy, formulaic crap comes Angus MacFadyen's take on Shakespeare's classic tragedy "MacBeth." Poignant and surprisingly funny at turns, this modestly budgeted adaptation begins with the common confusion of mid-Atlantic lingo and shakespearean lock-jaw and evolves into something quite different and alluring. Like a train wreck you can't turn away from, the emotionality and freedom of the performances (from a witch played with wicked wonder by Olivia Maxwell to wild, loosed and liberated Kevin McNally to Mr MacFadyen himself who cements himself as one of the most underrated actors of his generation) sets in motion a tale too tall to tell. Yet told with style and grace and - most of all - courage by an ensemble plucked from history in a manner worthy of its infamous scribe.

Mesmerizing Timeless Masterpiece
Unique Adaption
This was an interesting take on an old tale.
I will be the first to admit that this won't be everyone's cup of tea, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I would suggest it does take some basic, if not more than basic knowledge of the play however, otherwise I think it would be easy to become lost.
The acting was excellent and the use of music and imagery was spot on.
This story has been told many different ways, and this one was entertaining to watch.
Bad Production!
I'm only 10 mins in and I just can't watch this. The whole production feels like a mediocre college project. I know they probably had a small budget, but surely it could have been used more effectively. While some of the actors in this have been good in other projects they have worked on I feel like the direction, cinematography, casting and music selection are all poor resulting in a production of Macbeth that leaves us all under a curse.
