If Mayan revenge is to bore its audience to death, then it has succeeded.

It used to be that the B film would be on the bottom Bill of the A feature in big city movie palaces or play in neighborhood theaters where no real quality was expected. There was also films that were meant for teens that played in the drive in's, and later direct to VHS after the studio gave up on trying to find financing to get it released commercially. Over the past 30 years, films like this ended up on B cable channels like sci-fi, and the number of direct to DVD has also increased. Now they go straight to streaming which basically means people have to either come across it by accident or go out of their way to search for it, that is if anybody has let them know that films like this exist.

The title gives an exotic Indiana Jones like insinuation listen to the story which is barely there, indication that years before, the Mayans encountered some lizard like aliens who were believed to be the future cause of the world's destruction. Now a group of researchers are going into the old Mayan world to find out all they can about it, and you end up with 90 minutes of cliched and dull characters talking about everything but the plot and you have to wait until the last real before anything involving the results of their exploration bring into the story.

It's frustrating and doll and talky and badly filmed, with the camera actually resulting in blurry footage and tons of angry dialog, most of it in Spanish with subtitles that exposed the excessive use of curse words. The anger and threats of violence and nonsensical situations makes the film even all the more frustrating, and the performances really have no depth. Based on the title I had high hopes for this, but this sunk further down than the lowest elevation of any unexplored jungle region. Another one easy to skip.

Snake Eyes

The Mayan curse is revealed....expedition to jungle...locate evil reptilian aliens from the Pleiades.

Carla Ortiz is our sexy low budget Angelina including bikini, tight clothes, sex scene, and side nudity in case you miss Lara. The space ship you see on the DVD cover is in the very last clip. Most of the film consisted of drama as they look for the hidden Mayan location.

The Pleiades is a group of stars. While they look bunched together, they are really many light years apart. The whole idea that one race evolved in the this group on separate planets and with a need to consume human souls light years away didn't make it in my book as something well thought out. When it comes to science fiction, I understand you have to give a mulligan or two, but their origin details were like a ridiculous episode of Ancient Astronauts.

Guide: F-word, brief sex, side nudity.

And I'm a non diver

I'm a non diver yet, I know about the use of rebreathers in cave diving. I know there is triple redundancy in safety as cave diving is extremely dangerous. These are the "best" cave divers????? The acting at times was okay. One can only do so much with horrific writing. If you're willing to drop your intelligence level to that of an intoxicated fruit fly, the film is ok.
