Derelicts (2017) is a Thanksgiving movie I recently watched on Tubi. The storyline follows a family that has some "family dynamic" problems that are about to get a lot worse. Just as they sit down for Thanksgiving dinner a group of people bust into their home and start torturing and interrogating them. What evil deeds and misfortunes can they get the family to admit to under the circumstances?
This movie is directed by Brett Glassberg (ABC's of Death 2 1/2) in his directorial debut and stars Kelly Dealyn (12 Mighty Orphans),David Lee Hess (Fear the Walking Dead),Lana Dieterich (Teeth) and Les Best (Like Arrows).
This movie had a lot of potential with some good characters and circumstances. The movie starts off hilarious with old people having sex and establishing the family dynamic well. The villains are menacing and honestly well executed by the cast...and then the rape and kill scenes fall short and are poorly executed.
This is one of those films where the premise, characters and cast is there for a worthwhile film, but a lack of budget and imagination for special effects causes the film to fall short. I'd score this a 3.5/10 and only recommend watching it with the appropriate expectations.

I love a good holiday themed horror...
...but this ain't one. This is a BAD holiday themed horror, with NO redeeming qualities. It's a home invasion movie featuring what I can only call the Dollar Tree version of Rob Zombie's Firefly Family (House of 1000 Corpses, The Devil's Rejects, and Three From Hell). This movie isn't cool, it's not funny, it's not campy, it's not shlock... I mean none of these adjectives can be used to grade this movie on a curve. It's just BAD, and pathetically so!
Home Is Where The Haunt Is....
Another home invasion movie I'm sure has been done before but there's also a lot of originality here. A lot of unexpected moments I thought were quite surprising. As you would expect a bunch of strangers terrorise a family in their home & hold them hostage during their thanksgiving meal (nothing new there.) A few of the torture scenes were quite good & very unexpected. A movie which features a load of unknown cast members & as you would expect, family members start to get killed off but I just wish there was more emotion shown especially from the mother who just seems to sit in silence at the dining table through the majority of the film & witness her father get tortured & her son die & you'd think she would be in total shock & hysterical emotion but nothing... at least until the end. However, all that said, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Great film. Just wish there was some more emotion shown.
