I had a great time watching Dogged, in my opinion it was time well spent. If you are only into big budget Hollywood films full of CGI then unfortunately this film is not for you. However if you're a die hard horror fan like myself that watches as many horror films as possible, and at the same time enjoys seeing new creative ideas, and supports independent horror films than I recommend this to you!

I enjoyed Dogged
Impressive Indie Horror.
As compliments go, 'really good for an independent film' seems a little back-handed. To go further, I recognised that this was a low-budget venture, that some of the acting was a little wooden, and that the lush green rural landscapes would have looked scarier recorded on rich grainy film instead of what appears to be video - but I really enjoyed this slow-burning folk horror.
At nearly two hours, it's a long journey, but director, producer and co-writer Richard Rowntree takes every opportunity to infuse it with visual flourishes and eccentricities that, most of the time, work really well.
Sam Saunders plays leading character Sam well, never wanting to become involved with what is going on around him, but not content walk away from what is clearly a dark mystery. It seems to swell from the local menfolk who, in this community, still dominate every aspect of daily life, while the women willingly take on a more subservient role.
To say more would venture too far into spoiler territory. This enjoyable horror, and Rowntree himself, is even more impressive when you consider it was funded from a fairly modest Kickstarter campaign, and became the 4th most successful horror film funded in such a way.
If you don't like low budget films, you may not go for this - as some reviews attest - but if you can see beyond that, then I would recommend this is worth 116 minutes of your time. My score is 8 out of 10.
Pretty much unwatchable
A badly shot montage of establishing shots of locations and props, and about two hours of people walking around, occasionally speaking briefly, while nothing happens. A pretty sad state of affairs
