Deserves better ratings

Indeed this movie was a breath of fresh air...Superb acting by the entire cast notably Dolly Singh, Mahie Gill and the actor who play Sunny. Everybody had an excellent comic timing. There are no dull moments in this movie. Light hearted adult comedy. A must watch in my opinion

Breath of Fresh Air and Fun watch

The concept is new. Actors are versatile. Totally gripping story with light dose of humor. Very nicely done. Simple sober and funny! Would love to recommend this for a one time watch.

DOORDARSHAN (Netflix) - Enthusiastic performances for a story that fails to inspire

Darshan Kaur (Dolly Ahluwalia) has been comatose for 30 years since an accident in 1989, while the world around her changed. Her son Sunil (Manu Rishi Chadha) is a father of two and his wife Priya (Mahie Gill) is threatening him with a divorce. Life wasn't like this always, Sunil and Priya, childhood friends were in love with each other. That being the background, the film is actually about Darshan coming back to her senses and the doctor warning the household that time has to rewind by 30 years to ensure that she doesn't suffer a shock. The news about the passage of time must be broken slowly to allow her to come to terms with it.

This is where things get somewhat out of hand - Darshan Kaur is told that she has been out of action for just six months. Sunil and Priya put up an act about still being in high school, making the excuse of suffering from thyroid for looking overweight. Their son Sunny and daughter Sweety are turned into servants for the household, mobile phones are termed transistors and Doordarshan is revived. The whole act, initially interesting, gradually turns out to be contrived and protracted, failing to uphold engagement or evoke laughter. Eventually Darshan Kaur must realise the truth behind the chronology and the actual state of affairs, but not before we have yawned several times.

Dolly Ahluwalia is spunky, but her act is similar to what she did in Vicky Donor and Axone. Manu Rishi Chadha is impressive though and with Mahie Gill by his side, does a fair job to keep the tempo up for a while. Shardul Rana is fun to watch in the role of their son, while Rajesh Sharma and Supriya Shukla prop up the script well. Doordarshan should have been shorter and the script made a little more credible as the film is fraught with spoilers that drag the narrative to being untenable.
