Any movie that has Lin Shaye in it, is already a winner in my mind. Having said that she is just a smaller character in the whole thing. But that aside, the story ain't as bad as the rating may suggest. It is not a classic either of course. I do like the actors in it - some character choices I do not like at all. But it tries to make it as logical as possible.
It does take a turn towards the end ... an unfortunate one to say the least. The kind where it is like "I said it the whole time - but now I don't believe it anymore" ... shame, this could've been better, if it stuck to its guns. Also the very ending is ... I don't know, unnecessary? And even more so is the tagged scene during the credits ... that should not have been in there - not clever, not helping either.

Katch me if you can
You might just need a dreamkatcher, as the movie will lull you to sleep...
I sat down to watch the 2020 horror movie "Dreamkatcher" here in 2021, and I must admit that I was hoping for a good movie, as this particular movie had the likes of Henry Thomas and Lin Shaye on the cast list.
However, what I was in for here turned out to be a rather bland and very genetic horror movie. Writers Kerry Harris and Dan V. Shea just failed to come up with a script and storyline that brought anything new to the horror genre. And ultimately, the storyline was just so generic and mundane that it proved to be a rather slow-paced and monotonous story. Not to mention, a very predictable movie as well.
I thoroughly liked the movie's cover and the synopsis sounded like it was an interesting movie. And of course the fact that Henry Thomas and Lin Shaye were on the cast list definitely helped selling the movie as well.
The movie was just too bland and didn't really offer much of any entertainment, much less excitement, thrills or scares.
And the acting in the movie was fair, to be honest. It wasn't particularly impressive performances though, so you're not in for a grand spectacle of acting performances with "Dreamkatcher". As for Henry Thomas and Lin Shaye, well they were there, though they didn't play the main roles in the movie, more of supportive characters they had.
I suppose the story seemed good and exciting on paper, but translated to the screen it just failed to catch on. And a word of advice, if you are looking for a proper horror movie, then "Dreamkatcher" is a poor choice.
My rating of "Dreamkatcher" lands on a mere three out of ten stars, as the movie failed to properly entertain me, and it most certainly didn't live up to what I had hoped for.
What the heck?
Who is the girl on the cover? Who is the girl at the beginning with the axe?? Why is the acting so terrible??? Three credible actors in this that come across like this is the first film theyve ever made and don't quite know how to act? The whole film is so wooden, it's painful to watch.
