A very interesting case of over possessive mother ,which verges on monstruosity ; the construction of the movie uses flashbacks with skill .
Since the very beginning ,one feels that the future mother is irrational :why does she wait a fortnight to tell her husband he will be a father ? Why this sinister-looking "nanny " , a Norwegian who, with her language , builds another wall between the man and his wife? ;even when he's with them, their conversation is undecipherable for the unfortunate husband who does not know a single word in this cold nordic language :Some kind of Cerberus at the gate of Hell, for the hero begins his descent into Hell; he's even denied access to the room where his wife is giving birth to his child ,although he desperately knocks on the door till he grazes his hand.
Although he gets some comfort for his friendly couple -who are not cardboard for once ;the lady is not the brilliant always winning lawyer one meets in too many films but a woman longing for a child - , the whole word is against him ,he passes for neurotic (he's an artist ,after all) and the viewer sometimes stops and wonder whether he might have gone crazy too :see the disturbing look at his friend holding the baby in her arms ,the walls of his flat covered with pictures of a child he's never seen and probably never will.
Does the mother want to keep the child for herself? Is he really sick, an illness which will remind you of Nicole Kidman's children's in Amenabar's 'los ostros" ;even though the last scene is eminently predictable in the epilogue, the mystery is not solved ; one does not catch a glimpse of what the lawyer sees .
Sensational performance by Joaquin Furriel ,and the rest of the cast rises to the occasion;not to be missed.

My Theories ****spoilers****
Actually several but all have plot holes and loose ends.
#1 Mom plotted all along with mama to have a baby and shut dad out, gaslight him, make everyone think he's crazy, and make off with the kid, never to be seen again.
... But she doesn't
#2 Mom had twins for hubby's ex girlfriend. Yeah, you didn't see a twin, but mama fertilized an egg and injected it right into her belly. Why not? It was filled with amniotic fluid and hormones and ripe for hatching a another kid. Who knows? May be possible. Then she proceeds to gaslight hubby and if he got to unruly, *everyone* knows he's nuts and has attacked her before. Self defense. She gets one. Friend gets the other one.
... But friend acts really surprised to see the nanny and doesn't appear to be in on the plot.
... But maybe they agreed never to contact each other and after seeing the nanny, couldn't help herself. Film cuts off right before she yells, hey guys!
#3 There was no intention of giving away another kid. She had twins (sometimes a twin is hiding behind the other) and was going to make off with both. However, dad overreacted, got nosey, and had to be done away with. Everyone still knows he's nuts. However, since she never admitted having a second kid, still has to leave other twin and skip town,
... But she doesn't.
#4 She cloned a kid. Because why make a big deal about her being a biologist? That had to mean something, right?
... And why clone a kid?
... And if she's that good a biologist, why the difficulty with staying pregnant (lost one before) and being able to get pregnant in the first place? It every bothering getting married and doing it the old fashioned way? Why not just stay single get pregnant by in vitro and eliminate the bothersome middle man.
Lots of why's in this film!
