Our family really enjoys this documentary. We have parrots and are always surprised by their inventiveness and general intelligence. This is a nice comparison for two intelligent species of birds. It is done with some humor and therefore is less dry than so many documentaries. We have watched it multiple times. If you are looking for the standard dry delivery, then you may not be happy with this. If you are looking for an informative documentary that both kids and adults can enjoy, then give this a try. As a side note, our pet parrots "use tools" and problem solve.

Amusing and Informative
Cute narration and interesting animals
I absolutely love this documentary. For about a year now I have been repeatedly rewatching this on Netflix, and I was very sad to see it was taken off the app. The narration makes it very pleasant, often projecting human emotions onto the animals when trying to explain the mood of their interactions. I love this because it is fun and quirky, but it also teaches a lot. There are scientific experiments, researchers in the field. A few of the experiments are displayed as almost a game, the two species racking up points against each other in a fun test of intelligence. I have recommended this documentary to multiple people, at least two of them have watched it and thought it was fun and interesting. I will miss it dearly if I can't find it on another app
Horribly annoying narration sink this one...and it's a real shame.
I was interested in seeing this show because it features the New Zealands K'ea...a very clever parrot that inhabits the snowy mountains there. When I last visited the country, I was shocked how much these birds LIKE and THRIVE with people around them. When our mini-bus stopped, I had hoped to perhaps see one of these endangered birds...and was shocked that many were at the tourist spot because they LOVED getting handouts and rooting for food among humans.
So why didn't I like this documentary? Well, two big reasons. The biggest is that the narration is simply inane and instead of sounding scientific or intelligent, they went for something much like "America's Funniest Home Videos"! Bad jokes and supposedly clever remarks (they are simply annoying) make this tough going for anyone but kids. Second, the film is about the K'ea AND the New Caledonian Crow--birds who are very different and live over 2300 miles apart! It would have been much better if they film had stuck with one of the birds or provided a less tenuous way to associate them. Seeing the film bouncing back and forth from one of these animals to the next again and again was just sloppy. A HUGE disappointment overall.
