I love a good Michael Moore documentary. Bowling for Columbine, Sicko, Where to Invade Next, and of course, Fahrenheit 9/11. When I first heard about this and how soon it was coming out I was very interested. As an American of course I heavily was invested in the political scene all throughout 2017-2018 and the madness prior and after the election. After seeing this film, I feel like it remained eye-opening, even with a lot of the information being common knowledge. I highly recommend this for everyone except maybe people who lean towards the right.

The film explores the election of Donald Trump as President of the United States. It also shows a brief glimpse of his history and what got him to that point. The film also goes to Flint, Michigan and their clean water crisis. The film also touches on gun violence and the recent Stoneman Douglas School shooting. Of course, this was expected as Michael Moore is an avid spokesperson against gun violence. There is a lot covered in this documentary and I think it breezed through because it engulfs, captivates, and even horrifies you from beginning to end.

What I really liked about this film besides the deserved criticism of Trump is the fact that it also goes in and pokes at Bill Clinton and yes, even Barack Obama. It shows things that they did that make you scratch your head and think about the system we live in and how similar the parties really are. I found the portions about what Flint, Michigan was going through to be insane and enraging. Michael Moore is a master at jerking a reaction from the viewers and he does a darn good job of getting one here. The crowd in my theater broke into comments of rage and applause here and there.

it was hard not to get some chills at some point. This is an important film all around, it just is. The countries climate is explained fairly well here and it still is a country divided. Its message of focusing the energy and fixing the issue is important, but where to start? I think this film somehow managed to exceed its expectations. Its worth a watch for everyone, I change what I said earlier everyone in the country should see it and form an opinion. The low reviews on IMDB already make me know people aren't watching it and bashing it prior to seeing it and giving it a chance.

FAHRENHEIT 11/9 is Michael Moore's latest documentary is his best yet and even more powerful than BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE, my previous favourite. The story looks at the Trump presidency and what caused his rise to power, essentially modern American politics in a nutshell. The pacing is incredibly fast, the technical qualities (in particular the editing) are excellent and Moore packs an incredible amount of information into the two-hour running time. Yes, it's very one-sided but given the controversial topic then it was always going to be. One comment I have to make is that the most shocking part, the story of the water contamination in Flint, Michigan deserves its own feature-length documentary.

Maybe you have seen director and writer Michael Moore's trademark film that has almost the same title like this one here, then you immediately know who made this and also basically what to expect. This movie here runs for over 2 hours and gives us Michael Moore's take on the Trump presidency or rather on how it could happen. Well sort of. Honestly, there are really really long parts in this film that only had a fictitious connection to the subject promoted in the trailer. Yes there is a lot Trump in it, but there is also a lot of other stuff. The best example would be Moore once again elaborating critically on his hometown of Flint in Michigan. Not the first time for sure. This time, it is about the water. Honestly, it is a shocking subject we have here about how the people living here had to drink water poisoned with lead for reasons of profit and how they really made sure only General Motors would have access to clean water from Lake Huron. It's okay that sometimes they were showing crying people rather than spilling out knowledge and information for the emotional impact. But using this as any kind of explanation for Trump winning the state is ridiculous. Same can be said about the scenes with Obama. I am pretty glad honestly that Moore stepped up to include something Obama critical in this movie as honestly, it is nothing you see too often in films and documentaries these days anymore. I wish Moore could have made a full movie about Obama's failures in his 8-year presidency as he is still treated like some national hero despite all the gruesome acts he did. I will not go into detail about that any further. Lets focus on the film at hand instead. First of all, I was really amazed to see the beginning and how Trump won the election being such an underdog beforehand. I really did not expect him to take the win that night and it wasn't even close. I mean they say the Democrats have had a majority of votes every single election in the last 30 years except Bush's re-election. Feels really sweet to get reminded again of this fateful night in November 2016. I wish it could have been longer. instead the film moved once more to completely different topic like teachers and garbage truck drivers on strike and how it was initially a local, state-wide strike and then became almost a national affair. Again, I will not expect the explanation that this was linekd to Trump's election victory. I think with better focus this film could have been a 95-minute movie. And all about Trump. Even I as a Trump supporter enjoyed some of the anti-Trump moments here for their comedic value like when the two met on Roseanne's show years ago. And how Trump was (allegedly) scared of Moore back then and said something along the lines of how he hopes Moore will not make a film about him someday. Maybe that moment also stayed in the mind so easily because it was used constantly in the film's trailer.

Another entertaining moment would be when we see Moore having his own personal vendetta against the man who was responsible for poisoning the water as he goes and wants to make a citizen's arrest. Okay it was not about Trump, but that was hilarious admittedly and I say it's okay if they let it in. When he goes to the man's premises afterwards and gets all the water over the fence there, that was a bit too much already again perhaps and not too funny. But it's always like that with Moore, either he is really entertaining or just off the mark. Even many democrats are really critical towards him. Another example of how things went pretty wrong here is when he goes to see a small NGO who tries to make a political impact and also succeeded to some extent and he wanted to emphasize his proximity to the people like that I assume. There was talk before that because a politician called a protester a "lesbian skinhead" and that kinda ruined his career. Honestly, I found that too much. Pushing somebody out of office or out of running for a comment like that is pretty anti-democratic to me. Lesbian is not a swear word I think and skinhead well if she shaves her head she mustg live with such a word in my opinion. You see the skin on the head and skinheads are not only right wing extremists anymore these days. Actually not for a long time. But what was really bad about all that is how we hear people even say the arseh... word about the politician and that is just as low as what he did, probably even lower. One of the weakest moments of the documentary. There are more. Of course, near the end Moore shows a speech by Hitler and puts Trump's voice over it. Honestly, this surprises me that the film wasn't banned. No matter what you think of Trump, you just cannot put him on the same level as a man who killed millions and millions of people. And if that wasn't enough already, then afterwards we see a few interviews with "experts" who make a connection between Trump's presidency and the 3rd Reich. Clearly overstepping the mark here. As for the more harmless moments, there is Moore whining on one occasion about how Trump associate Conway acted too kindly towards him. Oh well, I am sure he hugged these "revolutionary kids" too at some point and acted like their friend, even if he probably never saw any of them before or after this clearly staged scene. Yeah please don't tell me that it happens right this exact moment that Moore is with them that the other candidate dedecides to run successfully against their antagonist. Okay, overall that was enough I believe. Eventually, it is just for the most part another rather empty and extremely biased antu-Trump movie as you see itso many times. It has been done before that and better. The almost last shot when we see a video of FBI officers getting somebody out of a building arresting him and Moore put Trump's head over the actual head says it all how seriously this film can be taken here from an informative standpoint. Moore is one that polarizes (also int he film he made before that when he toured with a pro-Hillary standup routine through the most conservatives areas of America, yet to see that one though),but he uses really the most simple means for that. Has always been like that in his career, so why would he change this successful formula in his mid-60s now. Oh yeah by the way, also the woman responsible for Trump getting elected is not Gwen Stefani, but Hillary Clinton, but he got that right later on when he elaborated briefly on Bernie's defeat. But good news for his supporters as he has decided to run again in 2020. I won't comment on that or his age 2 years from now as my review shall focus rather on the movie this is about. I personally give it a thumbs-down and don't recommend checking it out. Quality-wise, it was pretty much what I expected. Watch something else instead.
