Based on a true story, Fisherman's Friends tells the tale of a music exec from London (Daniel Mays) who winds up in Cornwall. He winds up making stars of a group of singing fishermen. Along the way, the music executive realizes what's important in life.
Yes, a bit predictable, but it's a fun, warm film with plenty of atmosphere and excellent performances from Mays, David Hayman, Maggie Steed, James Purefoy Noel Clarke Tuppence Middleton, and the others.
Not a special effects blockbuster with action stars, but good nonetheless.

Plot summary
A fast living, cynical London music executive (Daniel Mays) heads to a remote Cornish village on a stag weekend where he's pranked by his boss (Noel Clarke) into trying to sign a group of shanty singing fishermen (led by James Purefoy). He becomes the ultimate "fish out of water" as he struggles to gain the respect or enthusiasm of the unlikely boy band and their families (including Tuppence Middleton) who value friendship and community over fame and fortune. As he's drawn deeper into the traditional way of life he's forced to reevaluate his own integrity and ultimately question what success really means.

lovely film
Sinking fast
"The feel good film of the year" the dvd box promises you. Unfortunately I cannot agree.
The problem with lots of these films is that they follow such a predictable storyline that you can easily predict all of the 'twists' along the way, and we've seen it all done before...and better.
Despite the stellar cast this was a dud.
Beautiful
So much action, drama, CGI... Who needs it?
A beautiful movie right here. I don't want to know how accurate, I don't want to pick at it for mistakes. It was beautifully shot, beautifully acted, and just a beautiful movie.
Loved it.
