don't care about the castle and all those animals

Jon Arbuckle (Breckin Meyer) plans to propose to his girlfriend Dr. Liz Wilson (Jennifer Love Hewitt). She's on a business trip and he follows her to London. Garfield (Bill Murray) and Odie sneak into Jon's luggage and join him on the trip. Garfield breaks out of the kennel with Odie and hides in Jon's suitcase. Meanwhile, the late Lady Eleanor leaves her castle to her pampered cat Prince and next to nothing to her nephew Lord Dargis (Billy Connolly). Once in London, the lookalike cats get switched.

I actually like the interaction between Jon and Garfield. I like the movie up to the point when they get separated. Then the movie loses what makes it fun in the comic strip. I don't care about all these other animals and everything going on in the castle. It's all very children's show with all these talking animals. I like it when sarcastic Garfield is the only animal who talks.

Garfield 2: A Tale of Two Kitties

The first film wasn't great, and while this sequel might a very, very tiny improvement, it is still the same quality of entertainment, from director Tim Hill (Muppets from Space). Basically Jon Arbuckle (Breckin Meyer) is planning to propose to his girlfriend Liz (Jennifer Love Hewitt),and his pets, cat Garfield (Bill Murray) and dog Odie follow him to England. Meanwhile, Dargis (Billy Connolly) is wanting to inherit a mansion and fortune, but misses the opportunity to the regal cat Prince (Tim Curry),who looks exactly like Garfield, so obviously, the two are switched. Garfield lives in the lap of luxury with everything he could want, including a gang of farm animal followers, and Prince has Jon, Odie, a crumby home and lasagna. With Dargis trying to now get rid of Garfield, both he and Prince are brought together to stop his dastardly plan and save all the animals in for the kill. Also starring Ian Abercrombie as Smithee, Roger Rees as Mr. Hobbs, Lucy Davis as Abby, Bob Hoskins as Winston, Sharon Osbourne as Christophe, Joe Pasquale as I, Claudius; Jane Leeves as Eenie, Jane Horrocks as Meenie, Richard E. Grant as Preston, Vinnie Jones as Rommel, Rhys Ifans as McBunny, and narrated by Roscoe Lee Browne as Narrator. The jokes are average, the mistaken-identity thing could have gone a bit better, and the special effects don't do too badly, just like the first one, this is more for the kids. It was nominated the Razzies for Worst Prequel or Sequel and Worst Excuse for Family Entertainment. Okay!

A huge improvement on the first film

This is an entertaining film, and is it better than the first movie? Yes, much better! The stunning location of the English castle was a delight, as was the lovely Jennifer Love Hewitt. Don't forget the adorable dog Oadie, who was one of two reasons(Jennifer Love Hewitt being the other) for watching the first film. Billy Connelly was too OTT, but it didn't help with the material he was given. The script was still a tad uninspired, but an improvement. Bill Murray is a lot more bearable in this movie, but he does sound a little bored. The supporting voice cast do a commendable job too, Tim Curry the standout with his aristocratic voice, he was perfect for the voice of Prince. I laughed a lot at this movie, its predecessor is a far cry from that. There are a few cheap gags such as the dog Rubble and the trousers, and some clever ones such as the mirror sequence, inspired by I think the Marx Brothers. Thank you for an entertaining movie, and it doesn't deserve the low rating. 7/10, Bethany Cox
