I hadn't heard about the 2021 Thai romantic comedy titled "Sompoy" prior to sitting down to watch it in 2022. But of course I opted to watch it, on the account of it being a Thai movie that I hadn't already seen.
So writers and directors Anawat Phromchae and Aroonakorn Pick had every chance to impress and entertain me here, as I had no expectations to the movie, as I didn't know what I was in for, aside from it being a romantic comedy.
Boy, oh boy, was this movie a drag. I managed to suffer through an excruciating 45 minutes of slow, dull torment. The storyline in "Sompoy" was just so bland and pointless that there was no enjoyment to be found anywhere. And the pacing of the storyline and narrative was so slow that you could literally feel yourself aging rapidly.
For a romantic comedy, then "Sompoy" just swung hard and missed even harder. Not only was the storyline sheer boredom and pointless, but the character gallery in the movie was equally so. I didn't care one bit about any of the characters, as they were one-dimensional cardboard cut-outs with the personalities of withering grass. No chemistry between the two supposed romantically entangled lead performers at all.
There are a good amount of romantic comedies in the Asian cinema, however "Sompoy" is not one of them. And if you enjoy romantic comedies, then I would not recommend you waste your time, money or effort on this 2021 movie. I managed to endure 45 minutes of a staggering two hours of torment - or runtime, depending on who you ask.
I have zero intention of returning to watch the remaining 1 hour and 15 minutes that I skipped on, because I just simply have no interest in the characters or storyline whatsoever.
My rating of "Sompoy" lands on a two out of ten stars.

The First Rom-Com Northern Thai film
It is the first feature film that presents the northern part of Thailand. It tells the story of the love of a northern girl who falls in love with a man from Bangkok.
Telling stories from 2 northern directors. The movie is smooth and fun. The style of the north. All the characters are well acted. But there will be some conflicts in the hero's part. And sound mixing. And in the image sequence There is still some drama. But overall, the movie presents the story well.
