"Hard Kill" is one of Bruce Willis' latest films. And, now that it's officially been announced that Willis has aphasia and can no longer act because of it, his appearing in so many ultra-low budget action films in recent years makes a lot more sense. And, in "Hard Kill", though he's in the film, he doesn't have a lot of dialog...and it's likely because of his brain injury...which is incredibly sad and I wish him the best.
The plot to "Hard Kill" often makes little sense and feels like much of the time there are pieces missing to the story. After all, if you are a billionaire and you are trying to stop a Bond-type villain, why would you hire just six people to take on the villain's army of soldiers? Why would the six, after killing various evil soldiers, never consider taking these soldiers' better weapons and body armor?! Who exactly is this villain called 'The Pardoner'? How can they MISS shooting him in scene after scene?! And, why would you go into this with no apparent plan. These things just don't make a lot of sense and it feels like the script has a lot of dangling pieces. Overall, this is a cheap film and it shows. The dialog is very weak and the story seems more like a plot outline than a coherent plot. Apart from Willis, there isn't a whole lot to recommend this film.
By the way, if you care, the film was made in the creepy abandoned US Playing Card factory in Norwood, Ohio (just north of Cincinnati). Apparently the factory was torn down just after they made this movie. In hindsight, it's a shame they didn't tear it down first.

One of Willis' last.
Die easy
Bruce Willis needs money - I know who doesn't. But that is the answer people get when they ask, why Bruce is doing movies like this one right here. And the question might come up a few times while you watch this. One of those times will be when you watch the scene inside a car. It is as cringe worthy as any movie scene can get. You can almost feel Bruce despising the fact he has to be there ... but you can also feel the ease of his existence ... hey I'm getting paid for sitting here - there's worse things.
But the movie also has a bit of action to offer. And that can be called the saving grace of it all. Well if you cut the movie some slack and suspend your disbelief ... and don't worry about weird and really wooden dialog. Is it the directors fault? Was the script weak? Are the other circumstances that led to this being mediocre at best? Tough to say - but I understand if you think I am too forgiving with the movie overall.
Join the dots
Another cheapjack action movie, shot in Ohio and with Bruce Willis appearing for about ten minutes and being extensively doubled for the rest of the time. It's like watching a Seagal movie at times. This near plotless affair is set entirely in an old factory building, where terrorists have kidnapped a girl and some mercenaries are hired to rescue her. Jesse Metcalfe is the ageing hero, the rest of the goons are a wooden bunch, and despite best attempts the action scenes are non-existent, with join-the-dots cohesion and a total lack of suspense throughout.
