Jack (Rob Corddry) and his pregnant wife Vanessa (Leslie Bibb) buy a rundown home in a gang-infested New Orleans neighborhood known locally as the House of Blood. F'resnel (Keegan-Michael Key) is their invasive neighbor. Something is going wrong with the pregnancy and Vanessa turns evil. The Vatican sends exorcists Father Sebastian (Robert Ben Garant) and Father Padrigo (Thomas Lennon).
This is written and directed by Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon. It feels like a silly comedy from another one of these comedy troupes. while it's mildly humorous, it seems to be aggressively asking if it is funny. It expects to be hilarious but it never rises to that level. I don't think the Corddry Bibb pairing fits this style especially Bibb. It needs someone much more wackier. I loath to suggested that she's funny enough for a hottie. The fact is that she ain't no comedian. It does have comedian Riki Lindhome playing her sister Marjorie. Now, Riki does a full frontal nude comedy bit. While I get the bit as it runs on and on, the nudity definitely overwhelms the comedy. I am impressed with the comedic talents in the cast but it never adds up to something great.

Welcome - maybe baby
I mean with a title like that it isn't too hard to figure out what this is going to be about. What you may not know from the title is how it will tackle the whole thing. And in this case it does so with comedy. Though that does not mean it holds back on the violence/blood! So you should not be easily offended. Also this has a bit (or a lot I reckon) of nudity in it! Something certain people have issues with (not just prudes, so not judging, just giving you the facts).
The comedy works most of the time, which is a testament to the talent on screen. Especially when it comes to the "annoying neighbor" - Michael Keegan Key. I really like him, but his role is quite unnerving to say the least. So it was imperative to have an actor there who is likeable even if the character is anything but ... he achieved it. The jokes are a bit of a hit and miss with the first gruesome scene being telegraphed from the moon - and so obvious that it almost hurts. But I could mostly forgive these things - and then the ending almost ruined everything. But I won't let that spoil the fun I had up to that point ... or make the ending substract points from my rating either
The house is settleing
Jack (Rob Corddry) and Vanessa (Leslie Bibb) who is very pregnant with twins moves into a Louisiana haunted house. F'resnel (Keegan Michael Key) lives in their crawl space. Meanwhile there is an umbrella killing happening in the Vatican as two Guido Sarducci wannabes head to New Orleans.
The film is a generic spoof of horror films, lacking the good satire we have come to expect from the "Scary Movie" series. Much of the humor is overly slapstick while other humor is just downright stupid. "Hell Baby" is classified as a comedy horror without horror and needing quality comedy. The film had some good lines and a few good scenes, but unfortunately they couldn't maintain it. The police officers in the movie were a lame attempt at humor. The baby doesn't enter the film until it is nearly over and is insignificant to the production.
The film will work as a low brow rental.
