A story of the Korean comfort women and their struggles to find justice in the Japanese courts in the 1990s. This ripped-from-the-headlines tale is constructed to shine a light on an episode of history shameful to both Korea (the victim) and Japan (the perpetrator) through close realism and heavy emotion. All of the expected Korean melodrama is present here, from hand-wringing to chest-thumping, to breakdowns and death, all played out with a maximum of emotion. It's a tough watch because of the darkness of the material, but as a true story it demands to be told.

In 1991, Busan, Bae Jung-gil, who had been working as a housekeeper for Moon, the owner of a leading travel agency, suddenly disappears. After following rumours here and there, Moon finally finds Bae hiding in the house of her son and discovers that she was once a comfort woman. After realising that the only cure for these women are the Japanese government's official statement of apology and compensation, Moon strives to help the victims by preparing for trial on her own expense.
