Inspiring Story about a Family in the US
Rich and moving
I've enjoyed this film twice and it is richer with each viewing. It has great depth and is moving and sensitive when exploring the Obayashi family saga. Seeing it the second time when it was presented by the 90 year-old Japanese American Citizen's League of Oregon was especially moving. So many layers of meaning for this current time.
Comfort food for the eyes
I saw this documentary at the Asian American Latino Film Festival in New York City and was delighted by the warmth and sensitivity of both its subjects and its storytelling. This movie is not just about a great culinary artist and the restaurant where he dazzled L.A. foodies with his craft, it is a moving exploration of how we should conduct our lives and relate to our families.
