Cute Feel-Good Hallmark-esque Short Story

This story was dreamed up by Mr. QVC himself, David Venable, and he has a role in it, as well. I don't watch Hallmark movies because they all basically have the same plot. This short story (it's only a little over an hour) is very similar to them. It's a cute story, and I think it could have been better if it was longer. There was really not enough time to move the plot sufficiently. I will say that the one thing that was a true negative to me was the mayor character. The acting was bad, the character obnoxious, and the writing for it was poor. I was so surprised at how terrible that character was. The main actors were fine, and like I said, the story was cute. We love David in our house and think he's really a lovely person which is why we watched.

Hallmark without All The Filler

I was pleasantly surprised by this short rom-com. The acting was solid B class, and the writing was pretty good as well -- a lot of good banter. Let's face it, Hallmark has a lot of losers in its stable. Usually the writing is sub-par, with the same theme over and over again -- I've actually seen the same movies remade more than once, though they pretend they are different -- and 40 minutes worth of story torturously stretched to an hour and a half. The acting can be a little school play-ish, with either the actors over pronouncing the last syllable of every word, or doing that sing-song going higher at the end thing. The only thing is Hallmark makes so many of these films, there are still a lot of good ones to choose from .

QVC made ONE film, and it's pretty entertaining.

QVC does Hallmark, poorly

Definitely not my cup of tea. Or in this case, cup of hot chocolate. Predictable plot, half-baked characters, and an overdone story of romance around Christmas. The only thing more "Christmasy" than this film is a QVC showroom this time of year. (Example: the towing company in town is "mistle towing." Oy.) Ryan Farrell's acting chops (the only one with them in this short flick) can't save this film. But if Hallmark-esque films are your thing, heck..give this film a taste. It's likely as sugary sweet as the hot chocolate they're trying to sell you. Yes, this is a QVC-produced film, so there has to be something for purchase.
