Watched it on DirecTV tonight because it interested me and I saw that it was leaving the platform soon. I am so glad I saw it. A very accomplished "little" film about life and death and everything in-between. Highly recommended.

A lovely film
Slow
Kathy Bates is there... but not really. There is nothing new here to learn and it's not that entertaining. It really has that low budget feel thought-out the film without any thing for you to say "but that's OK". Jake McLaughlin's acting and look are good... but that alone does not carry the film.
Great cast but not much more
Started out ok but never gets going. Just kinda stays at the same mediocre stagnant pace throughout the entire film. I liked the lead actor but he doesn't get to showcase he acting until the end. We also never learn why he killed the Grandmother. Was it an accident? Was it in cold blood? We never get an answer. I literally had to rewind the film after it was over to see if I missed something. I didn't, it never gets explained. I also didn't understand why the grandaughter just sorta forgives him and starts a friendship. This guy killed a family member and you start hanging out with him a few days after he gets out of prison? I didn't get it. The director definitely played it safe with this one. We've all watched this type of film before. Guy returns home from jail to confront the demons of his past. I'm not saying it was a bad film. It just wasn't very original and too slow for my taste. Basic 5 star film.
