I really liked it. Solid Story. Action was a little lacking in budget. But the premise and the executions was really good.
I think that people are being harsh on this for no particular reason. You're gonna tell me that Malik Yoba wasn't great. He was.
Matt Singletary- Solid lead.
Nation- Great villain.
The Alderman - that guy can really act.
Marion was good.
Her mom was good.
Little John was kind of the heart of it all.
Stop being goofy. Give it a shot. Watch it all the way thru and you will see there is some great stuff here. The message is OUTSTANDING. The acting is REALLY good.
It was worth my money and time. That's all I ask for. Particularly of an indie flick.
Don't listen to nonsense. Give it a watch.
Plot summary
When RJ (Matt Singletary) returns home to Chicago after an 8 year tour in the army, he quickly finds that the streets he once knew are now eerily similar to the war torn villages and deserts of the Middle East. His Uncle Richard (Harlem Globe Trotter Curley Boo Johnson),who has taken care of him since he was a little boy, explains the rules of the urban battleground - Don't go out at night, gangs, drugs and money rule these streets, and Trust no one.Is there any way to stop the cycle of violence? To push the gangs out? To save our children? This modern day retelling of the Robin Hood Legend amps up the action and heroism. All while taking a look at what's really wrong in the neighborhoods of Chicago.RJ is an arrow slinging savior of the city. Along with Father Benjamin Tuck (Malik Yoba),Marian (Mahogany Monae),his childhood love who now runs the community center, and his comrades in arms from the army, RJ and his crew are out to stop the drug trade and gangland war that's spread across Chicago. Stealing from the rich and corrupt, giving back to the poor and the police, it's a fight for peace on our streets. But someone is behind the scenes handing out the weapons, flooding the neighborhoods with drugs and fueling the warring gangs. Can RJ stop them before the city explodes?

Good Story. Solid Acting
RITUALS AND SACRIFICE
Matt Singletary comes across like Vin Diesel with soul. The production incorporates a faith based message which accounts for the many rave reviews. However as an action film, it lacks scenes that show action. The opening Afghanistan scene was horrible. What was with his conflict with his superior that never circled back into the film? The violence is toned down to where we don't see most of the blows, just guys falling over. The sound quality wasn't great which was noticeable on the inside shots, especially the restaurant scene.
If you are looking for an action film, keep going. If you want a pseudo-action faith based film with no swearing, sex, or nudity, and quality is not an issue, this is it.
