ITTEFAQ REVIEW : When you are going to remake an old classic thriller after a Long gap of 47 years obviously you can't just copy paste things, you have to update it for latest audience and Ittefaq has done it quite very well. I have seen old Ittefaq and loved it, so while watching this i knew what's gonna happen but writer proved me wrong in last 5 minutes. Last 5 minutes turned this average looking thriller into Mindblowing film. When i thought it's a predictable thriller and everything has came to an end suddenly that suspense arrives and blown me away.

Acting wise Siddhart was good, Sonakshi was average, Akshay Khanna is terrific. Writing is average but deserve applaud for the thrilling end. Cinematography is very low grade. Editing is Great, a perfect 100 minutes thriller without any loo breaks. Background music does not impress, could have been better. Direction is Pathetic, don't know how Director choose those frames which looked like a B grade film. Presentation doesn't suit to nowdays updated era, where we see many lavish film. If there had been no good writing and last 5 minutes suspense this film would have been a Crap because of Direction. The director could have easily crafted this story much better visually and sense wise too. Despite so many minuses as a whole Film does not disappoint you. It's Not a classic though, still it should be watched at least once. Those who have seen old Ittefaq will love it, and those who didn't watch old one will like it too much. At Box Office this one might be an Average success as this one lacks repeat value and can't hold strong on weekdays (limited appealing content and competition from mass entertainers) but still it could remain steady. I'm giving this one 7/10* that 1* is given extra for brilliant climax.

Inspired from the 1969 film by the same name, 'Ittefaq' is a decent whodunit mystery-thriller, that succeeds in keeping your interest alive, despite its shortcomings. And Ace Actor Akshaye Khanna entertains all through.

'Ittefaq' Synopsis: A detective seeks out the truth between two different stories of a crime scene.

'Ittefaq', like most thrillers, delivers a dozen of puzzling suspense, but never at the expense of overdoing it. Its a decent mystery, the unravels nicely. Of course, the film isn't perfect, as a particular sub-plot in the film's second-hour, lacks the bite. Nonetheless, there is not much to complain here!

Abhay Chopra, Shreyas Jain & Nikhil Mehrotra's Writing is decently done, with a good culmination. The identity of the culprit, is interestingly reveled. Abhay Chopra's Direction is good. Cinematography & Editing add to the film's strength.

Performance-Wise: Akshaye Khanna is the scene-stealer. He entertains as the detective on a mission. Sidharth Malhotra does an impressive job. This is among his better works. Sonakshi Sinha is restrained this time & that works on her advantage. Pavail Gulati is perfect. Others lend excellent support.

On the whole, 'Ittefaq' is a decent watch.

There is definitely luster in Ittefaq which depends heavily on its plot about two murders that take place within the span of a few hours. Lead man Sidharth Malhotra plays a thriller writer who is accused of both the murders which are being investigated by a smart-Alec cop (Akshaye Khanna). It is a pleasure to see Khanna act on screen mimicking his role previously seen in Mom (2017),and Malhotra surprisingly follows-up with a charming performance after a laudable work in Raj and DK's "A Gentleman" earlier this year. But none of these help this crime thriller from revealing its textbook style of manipulation. It is obvious from the first frame that you are going to experience few twists and turns in this whodunit, but for the film to succeed, it needs impeccable attention to details and minimized plot holes. However, both these factors stare at your face when you think about it - especially in the last 20 minutes. Sonakshi Sinha is thankfully not annoying but her portrayal of this lonely housewife who does more than household chores during her day time is not entirely convincing. Maybe her character is written like that, but Sinha's mediocre acting chops glaringly show. Director Abhay Chopra has carved a thriller that is inspired by Hollywood flicks that we enjoy but a bit more tightness and attention to details to cover the goof-ups would have made it a more worthwhile experience. Right now, you can appreciate Ittefaq for its cast, the slightly interesting plot, and a smooth cinematography. TN.
