I was doing laundry and figured I'd watch this while waiting and folding. Watching my dryer would have been more entertaining. It started out okay and then took a nosedive for the worse. Nothing happens. Nothing I cared about anyway. The dialogue was flat. The ending was strange. I guess she takes the money and runs. The hell with daddy paying the ransom. I'm going to take daddy's money and make a new life or something. I never got the impression she hated her father. It made no sense. Skip this bomb.

Tom and Vic kidnap Stella and hold her for ransom. This is a remake of The Disappearance of Alice Creed (2009). There is no reason to remake that movie unless they get a bigger star to play the female lead. Gemma Arterton is a relative star. Jella Haase is definitely smaller. There is no point in making a British indie into a smaller American indie. As for any tension, one better not have seen the original. By the midway point, I stop paying attention. Things happen. I don't approve. Grade gets lower and lower. It's not as bad as Psycho but it's in the same league.

Sometimes you watch a movie and you get a Deja Vu, but you could swear you've never seen the movie ... not to mention it just got released so how would it be possible? Well it's because this is a Remake of a movie from 2009. And when that said movie is a kidnapping movie too, which is not pleasant to watch in the first place ... if possible stick to the original.

They try their best and the actors are quite good in this one (overall speaking),but why watch a movie twice? If you know that it's a remake that is. I could have saved myself some time, but when I start something I also like to finish it, no matter the pleasure or lack thereof
