The acting isn't great overall, but Wilson Ramirez kept me engaged and gave an outstanding performance. That dude is way underrated as an actor and I hope to see him in more films. The film is a true story that feels closer to what the truth is. American me had better production and stars but doesn't feel as real as this did. The end scene with the warden did hit me in the feels. Solid work!

This could be a hood movie if it were directed better. The actors could have been better if they had a little teaching. When young Kilroy and his friend threw the Molotov Cocktails they didn't light then and threw them sitting down like they were playing ring toss. Obviously you should be standing when playing with fire, but they could have tried harder. Definitely goes from badass to cheesy real quick.

For the ones who know even a little bit of the history of La Eme & just the whole Surreno/Norte history, this is a good view into the back story of things. I believe it should have a higher rating than the 5/10 stars it currently has but it's up to you to watch it regardless of the reviews & see for yourself. Kilroy is stellar.
