this is the best movie I have ever seen. the first time i watched it was in 1989. later, i watched this movie for four more times. there must be something inside the story that touches my soul. only those people who have live on with their childhood dreams can understand the idea the author try to pass to us in this film.

After watching this mediocre German melodrama I was surprised about the high ratings and the comments until it came to my mind that most voters and both comments may have mistaken this database entry for the superb Hayao Miyazaki animation film Tenkû no shiro Rapyuta / Laputa: The Flying Island. But the German film described here does not deserve any attention at all, it's just terribly boring. So if you are interested in a very slow paced story about the end of a relationship between a french architect and a Polish photographer set in still divided Berlin in the 1980ies, accompanied by a reading from "Gulliver's Travels", watch it, but don't say you have not been warned!
