First, sorry, English is not my mother tongue so there'd be mistakes about grammar or vocabulary, please skip them.
I had a chance to watch this movie at a Japan movie festival in my country, waited in line for 2 hours to get a ticket, was is worth it ? YES. The movie bases on real-life events, sets on a small island, 360km from Okinawa, Japan, where cellphone network doesn't reach, with a population of 1,200 and no high school. So after finishing 9th grade, all children have to choose, stay at the childhood island and helping family in agricultural production or leaving to Okinawa to continue studying. This is when things get complicated with family relationships, dreams, I wont go further because of my modest amount of vocabulary.
I have to say, the movie really "touched" me, after watching, it left my a strong feeling about my family, my birthplace, I enjoyed it from the first minute to last.
One more thing, the movie is also a combination of pretty landscapes, folk musics and traditional customs, I'll definitely travel to islands at the Southern Japan in the future.
Abayoi!

Plot summary
Teenage girl Yuna lives on a minor island of Okinawa in Southern Japan. Her island has little technology, no high school and no alternatives to tending to the land or water as a living. Teenagers have to decide to stay and engage the elements or leave for higher education. The island does have a community, however, which comes with a tight-knit culture and idiosyncrasies. How to proceed, progress and evolve become matters of conscience, tension, momentum, and inertia.
