Lila (Viola Davis) loses her son to a drive by shooting and joins a support group. Here she meets Eve (Jennifer Lopez) who asks the question, "If you could, would you?" With the police inept at getting the culprit, Lila and Eve turn vigilante.
We have seen vigilante films before, but not typically involving someone who doesn't have a special training music montage. They kept this one "real." Good acting as one would expect from Viola Davis and cast. Somewhat formula.
Guide: F-bomb. No sex or nudity.

GET MY TINA ON.
Grief and pain and ...
This may be predictable (to some more so than to others),but it does have a solid idea behind it and the grieving aspect of it, is more than rock solid and gives the whole thing a ground to stand on. Jennifer Lopez may not be headlining any big Hollywood movies anymore, but she can still pull off major roles like this one (even if it was initially offered to another actress who had to turn it down due to another commitment she had herself).
While this is convincing, even in its way to turn things around, it does have this "break point", where people may get annoyed or disappointed where this turns to (quite literally too). But it stays in tune to the whole thing and gives a way into the mindset of our main character. Whether you agree or not and whether you think this is morally justifiable or not ...
***
Film definitely shows the importance of support groups in dealing with common tragedies. In fact, this support group went over-the-top in this situation and that shows the cohesiveness of the group.
This is a film essentially about vigilante justice. Am still trying to figure out the Jennifer Lopez role in the film. She befriends Lila, Viola Davis whose son was gunned down while walking down the street and being at the wrong place at the wrong time.
It doesn't take much to turn Lila into a virtual killing machine.
The film also shows how overwhelmed the police department is when they attempt to solve homicides.
