Director: Michael Kristoff and Writers Jack Holmes, Michael Kristoff have created a really compelling story of a successful corporate lawyer turning his back on his successful career in law to pursue his pleasure in singing very dated but, still wonderful, American Standard songs.
What could go wrong? Well in this movie just about everything! First, Jackson Rathbone is obviously trained in musical theatre and not American pop singing. There is a way to sing on stage and there is a way to sing in a nightclub. Mr. Rathbone sings as if he were still on stage and not in an entertainment lounge. Plus the plot line has a tragedy every 12 minutes and it becomes a labor to watch. Not a single one of the characters was remotely believable. The piano player Chad Barrows is more comical than disturbingly emotionally broken as the character is supposed to be. By movies end you are glad that these characters have all been dispensed and you don't have to put up with them anymore!
Why did I watch it? To be honest I watched this movie because it featured Elliot Gould and he is only in it briefly.

Enjoyed this very much!!
What led me here was Jackson Rathbone. I had just viewed him in a very different western role. It was a pleasant surprise to see and hear him sing. He has a very nice voice. There were several other actors I knew from other films and that increased the likeness of this movie for me.
Elements of a musical (singing and piano) plus the drama of corporate law made an unusual mix of interest.
