Competently made and acted, but Ifa Isfansyah and Eddie Cahyono's modern take on 'Losmen Bu Broto' is mostly too schmaltzy for its own good. There are too many story threads and conflicts in this film, which makes it feel a little convoluted. Putri Marino's subtle performance and the movie's eye-popping art direction stand out. Too bad they're not enough to support the weight of the rest of the movie.
Losmen Bu Broto is a famous family friendly bed and breakfast set in Yogyakarta. Managed by Pak Broto and Bu Broto alongside their children; Pur, Sri and Tarjo. For an establishment that seems successful, conflicts slowly rise and create rifts between the family. Pur who seems hard to move on from the passing of her fiance, Sri who dreams to be a famous singer but expected to take over Losmen one day from her Mother, and Tarjo, who is really hard to find the right motivation for his study. All of these conflicts suddenly reach a breaking point when a big scandal suddenly hits over and the family must overcome their conflicts to face the challenges ahead.—filmindonesia.or.id
