This is a true documentary, it shows reality without trying to sweeten it, explain it or extract any conclusion from it. It's probably too raw for most people's taste but I really liked it (actually I profoundly disliked it... uh, you understand what I mean, right?). It's not an easy documentary to watch, you need your chakras to be very aligned.

Plot summary
Lot Lizard is a feature documentary about truck stop sex workers in America. There are three million truck drivers and thousands of truck stops throughout the United States. Many of them are frequented by sex workers who truck drivers refer to as lot lizards. The film follows Jennifer, a recovering sex worker who is trying to get her life back on track, Bobby, a man struggling to come to grips with his girlfriend's livelihood, and Betty, an aging sex worker who makes no apologies for her lifestyle. These intimate portraits hint at a broader story about America, how it deals with its 'derelicts,' and how we are implicated as consumers.

Raw reality
Grim
An ugly, depressing slice of reality. I guess the point was to show some hard lives. I found it mostly pointless.
Honest and Raw
"Lot Lizard" is not a feel-good movie. The documentary about sex-workers serving truck drivers in the night hours paints a pretty dark picture and shows the unfiltered reality.
You learn which influence this job has, not only for the women themselves but also for their environment. How they see themselves. How others see them. Why in some cases drugs seem to be the only way of escaping this literally grey daily struggle.
To deal with people we tend to pass is one of the great things that a documentary can achieve. In my eyes "Lot Lizard" does so. It may be a bit sad or depressing, but it shows you why every human deserves respect. Without great budget it tells a story. And listening to it is worth the time.
