Imagine an audience that is so excited to see you. They've heard you, because you're old. They're fans because they bought tickets. They are excited because they know the show is being filmed as a TV special, thus an extra layer of excitement. With that backdrop, this fandom audience continues to merely chuckle or politely laugh at his "punchlines". That helps me to realize I'm not just being harsh. Because his fans think he sucks. I stumbled upon this as I scrolled the premium TV channel "you might like this" list. So I had zero pre-conceptions. Wow he's terrible. This shouldn't be under the comedy category. I just don't get it. Bonus for the "I'm Jewish so I can be anti-Semitic" rants. That's so original.
