Country this on Silver film channel by coincidence, not finding the title very appealing. But when the name Boorman came across the screen, I was stuck. John Boorman is the director behind one of the most shaking film experiences I've ever had, when I saw Deliverance. The film based on a novel by James Dickey was an amazing accomplishment.
Deliverance, which is a story about four men going on a boys trip out in the wilds, to raft in a river, and becomes hunted by someone, is so amazing due to the filming style. A film where the nature's own sounds is making the terror, the waterfalls almost rapes your ears, combined with glittering play by the actors, combined with some scenes which will never be forgotten in film history.
This documentary is a gem for those who hasn't seen any of Boorman's film, as well as for those who have. Deliverance, Point blank, Excalibur, Hope and glory, Hell in the pacific, Emerald forest... There's lots here to dive into which will give an outstanding film experience.
This film gives much info about Boorman and also about his films, among them Deliverance, of course, wanting you to see them all. This film gives th family perspective. Boorman used his kids as actors in some of his movies, even for main roles. Obviously a tough and demanding process. Th now grown kids are revisiting both some of the feelings from the film and now. We even get to see some family arguing.
The film is very documentary in it's style. Some is video recording, other parts are. A very nice portrait of a filmmaker which still, ate turning 80, is having a film produced and directed now, coming out in 2014. The film is very much also John BooRman delivering his directing and producing role over to her daughter, Katrina, the maker of this film.
