A nonsexually binary, millionaire, cannibal serial killer has a blast trapping an apprentice burglar in her home. He shows up to rent a room, but falls into a trap: she wants to eat him, literally, after taking advantage of him. This dramatic arc will evolve along the way, to finally twist the clichés of fiction for a second part that also evolves towards the improbable.
A future cult film, irreverent, where for once the voice-over is really useful.
The director, writer and main actress, Louise Linton, composes a jubilant, improbable film, a horror comedy with black humor that works perfectly by torpedoing the clichés of the horror genre. It could be a chainsaw massacre in Beverley Hills in a billionaire's house. The film also takes the opportunity to twist the clichés of the horror film, Americana and the golden boy (here in this case, golden girl). A film without mawkishness.
To add to all this, the film is plastically sublime and cheesy at the same time, cheesiness assumed thanks to the black humor and thanks to the references to the 80's, in particular for the well chosen music, with a corpus of songs perfectly complementary to the scenes. References assumed and meta with the character who speaks to the viewer.
Can't wait for the sequel. Louise Linton has just signed her masterpiece.

Catherine Black (Louise Linton) is very rich and runs a hedge fund. She is admittedly materialistic and crazy. She is also a serial killer who has invited second story man Tyler Jones (Ed Westwick) to her house so she can kill him. Tyler is charismatic which causes a hiccup in the process.
The film describes itself as "elevated story concept." It has a pop sound track, mostly the original artists. There are numerous asides, go with it. Some of the dialogue has been used in pop culture films with slight moderation. I enjoyed the stupidity and genius of the production. Geez Louise.
Guide: F-word. Sex. No nudity.
I have no idea why people are so down on this.
It is supposed to be fun, glamorous, sexy and over the top and it pulls it off. Yes it may be a bit of a vanity project but it's a good one. The soundtrack is excellent - to me of a certain age anyway - she is gorgeous and can wear anything and make it look sexy. The two leads play off each other well with some funny skits. It's just entertainment and at times is really quite funny. My only qualm is the gore is not gory enough - they should have really gone for it and that would have played against the luxury. I liked it and enjoyed it.
It doesn't take itself seriously and neither should all the nay sayers.
