I stumbled upon the 2019 horror anthology "Midnight Montage" by random luck here in 2021. I was intrigued by the movie's cover and opted to give it a view, given the fact that it was a horror movie that I hadn't already seen.
As with most horror anthologies, unfortunately, then "Midnight Montage" was a swing and a miss. The stories in the anthology just didn't really prove to be all that entertaining, much less actually be scary. It felt like a watered down attempt at some light horror, at best.
The acting performances in the different segments were, for the most parts, actually good enough. Sure, you will not find yourself in for stellar performances unlike anything you've ever seen before. But the actors and actresses managed to put on good enough performances, despite having little to work with in terms of proper storylines.
The segments in the anthology are titled "The Inheritance", "Block Party", "Powerless" and "The Correctors". Of these four, I found "Block Party" to be the most watchable and tolerable of the segments. As for this being an anthology, the narrative that tied the four segments together just wasn't all that interesting.
If you enjoy horror anthologies, then I wouldn't really recommend that you waste your time, money or effort on "Midnight Montage", as it wasn't really all that entertaining. Nor did it bring anything new to the horror genre.
My rating of "Midnight Montage" lands on a three out of ten stars.

Horror anthology without entertainment or horror...
Surprisingly good! Much better than what you might be expecting if you go by the unfair rating on here!
I really liked this a lot, it definitely had a lot more effort put into it than what you'd normally get in what passes for a horror anthology these days, all four of the tales noticeably took their time to develop the characters and story, not to amazing effect or anything but I very much appreciated that in a movie like this, the acting was way above average in some of the stories and it took it's time telling them all, that's something you never get with current anthology flicks, they're mostly just extremely cheap and nasty efforts that are clearly done with no love for the craft and rushed out to dvd. While they were all pretty compelling and effective for what they were, I especially enjoyed the one about with the evil magician, I thought it was really creepy at points. It was awesome to see a new anthology with all original tales that were actually unique to the movie and done by the same director instead of the usual copout of collecting a bunch of different horror shorts and slapping of them together with some hokey cheap wraparound and calling it anthology which they are definitely not and are not representative of what a real anthology movie is and how great and fun they can be when done well, not that I'd consider this to be great exactly but it was certainly a step in the right direction as new anthology flicks go, what they were like in the good old Amicus days was a lot closer to what this movie is like, and I just enjoyed seeing it done that way, it was a far more enjoyable flick than a lot I've seem or a while like a recent one called Deathcember, which was disappointing as hell! Not great but a good and solid modern anthology movie and definitely what I'd call a rare gem in a sub-genre that's seen much better days, worth a look, I for one was very pleasantly surprised.
