Plot summary
Ian Folivor, a depressed and reclusive 30-something, finds himself taking advice from a growth in his bathroom after a failed suicide attempt. The Mold, a smooth talking fungus who was born of the filth collecting in a corner of Ian's neglected bathroom, works to win Ian's trust by helping him clean himself up and remodel his lifestyle. With The Mold's help, Ian attracts the attention of a neighbor he's been ogling through his peephole, Leah, and he manages to find a slice of happiness despite his unnatural circumstances. But Ian starts to receive strange messages from his old and broken down TV set that make him realize that The Mold may not be as helpful as it seems to be, and strange characters combined with stranger events cast Ian's life in the shadow of an epic battle between good and evil that Ian is only partially aware of.

Amazballs!
Underrated drama/horror/comedy
Motivational Growth is a underrated movie. If you are a fan of Jeffrey Combs from Re-Animator and The Frighteners you will appreciate this movie for sure.
Motivational Growth is like a mix of Basket Case, Videodrome and some bisarr comedy. You really care for the relation between Ian and the Mold. The movie is psychological, but not in a disturbing way. It had a Kafkaesque feeling. I recommend it for fans of Jeffrey Combs and/or weird movies.

Stop being gross & clean your bathroom!
Oh for heaven's sake! Stoners need to spend their spare time googling innovations in antimicrobial cleaning products & generally be constructive, and some yoga also wouldn't kill you! What Stoners do NOT need is one more silly navel-gazing movie which encourages every dumb, detrimental stereotype about marijuana. If you have a stubborn mold or fungus that you can't kill with vinegar or bleach, then you need Benefect (50$/gallon, Amazon) or Copper Fungicide (6-20$ on Amazon, depending on whether you buy pre-mixed or concentrate),not an existential crisis about your guilty overindulgence in comfort-drugs.
Verdict: Stop being gross. Stop being lazy. Clean your bathroom. Make better films! Call my review "unhelpful" if you must, but my cleaning advice is far more helpful than anything you'll find in this silly, self-indulgent film, especially if you've ever had a bad case of athlete's foot; you'll never get rid of it until you use the products I've recommended to clean up your yucky life!
