I know I know "it's not about the skin" it's about the actors, but I know far too much about history to give this narrative a pass.

History lesson: None of these characters should be as they are, that's not reality, that's not "how it happened". I know it's fiction but it destroys my ability to suspend disbelief, which is the whole point of films. It's also a disservice to the real oppression such people endured.

How about you tell original stories? Then you can make the cast whatever you want to.

At the time this period piece takes place, England was making a fortune transporting slaves in Africa to the "New World". All the horrors we Americans read about as children took place on BRITISH boats. There is plenty of blood on America's hands for making such an endeavor profitable, but the extent that the British get a pass on this is disgusting and this movie is downright offensive.

Stop telling everyone Western stories with race swapped characters and perhaps make some movies based on African history.

This wore vomit will make you cringe uncomfortably from start to finish. Every time the camera swings or the actors try to recite a line or fake an expression you're reminded that not a single person on this cast or crew was chosen for ability.

The entire film was made just as a continued effort to eradicate fact from history and give jobs to people who couldn't earn one.
