This downbeat, rewardingly gritty, frequently flawed, but not uninteresting low budget independent UK drama concerns the increasingly toxic travails of pretty young homeless girl Ally (Hannah Laresa Smith) and her brutal mistreatment at the vile, grasping hands of unscrupulous drug dealers. After a bold, terrifically energized first act, colourfully replete with especially fine acting by the film's spirited cast, My Day's frequently clumsy narrative often feels contrived, the relationship to kindly octogenarian do-gooder Frank (Mike Kinsey),while undeniably sweet, is poorly realised, but, to be fair, sparky Hannah Laresa Smith's earnest, brightly engaging performance remains wholly sympathetic throughout, as she's definitely one to watch out for in future! While 'My Day' undeniably has a warm, socially conscious heart, and the sordid milieu of inner city skulduggery is appreciably raw, the film's shallow text feels a trifle inauthentic, but this still remains an auspicious start for talented filmmaker Miiro and his delightful young muse Hannah!

Absorbing due to the lead actress
I liked the lead actress who played. Ally (Hannah Laresa Smith). She was believable in the character she was protraying. A natural. The characters of the Russian drug boss and crazy Carol were suitably over the top to the point of being amusing. How could Para Chris who lived in a complete squalor afford that much cocaine. The old man was a little contrived also. He formed a life bond with Ally after meeting her once. Some horrible characters and a watchable script. I liked it even though some parts were unintentionally funny. It was good.
