Mandy Cooper (Taylor Cole) is a hard working assistant to New York PR guru Deidre Kelly (Lauren Holly). When Mandy asks for more responsibility, she is immediately put down by Deidre. Playboy Prince Colin (Jack Turner) is their new client. After another one of his hijinx in a small Idaho town, the royal fixer Penelope Sheridan (Marina Sirtis) is sent. Deidre comes down with chicken pox and Mandy has to take the place of her boss.
The Prince is an entitled brat. He's great as the client. As a romantic partner, there is much to be desired. He does have the pretty boy looks and the possibility of redemption. It would actually work better if Penelope is the guy. Colin is a poor little rich guy and he's not the type that I could root for. As for the lie, it seems to be an easy one to spin to Deidre. Just say the royal entourage wouldn't accept an assistant to lead. Being a PR person, one would expect her to be able to spin. It's not the worst thing to tell the truth to Colin either. He would probably find the lie hilarious if it's done early enough. He would be able to play along and get one over Penelope. Essentially, the problems aren't problems. The prince isn't done well. All girls want to be princesses. At least, that's what Hallmark is selling here and it's a bright, cotton candy confection. It's another way to eat sugar.

Hallmark sugar
It was OK but I thought it was a little too predictable for a Hallmark film!
I have watched a couple of Hallmark movies and I thoroughly enjoyed them but this time, I was a little disappointed in this one. You see, we all know well in the story that a hardworking girl pretends to be her boss, prince falls in love with her, Prince hates her for covering up and in the end they live happily ever after. We all have heard of that before since we were all kids. I think this movie should've had a better story so that it would make us viewers, interested to make it different from the rest of the usual fairy tale stories we know!
The actors Taylor Cole and Jack Turner were good in this but I think it's mostly the story lines fault that I felt this movie didn't flatter me enough!
A predictable tv romantic comedy
Hallmark movies mainly the romance ones always have an English prince falling for an American woman. This is one of them.
My Summer Prince is a 2016 romantic comedy about a young woman named Mandy(Taylor Cole)who works for a PR named Deirdre(Dumb and Dumber's Lauren Holly)who wants to scoop news on a wild prince named Colin(Jack Taylor). Problems arise when Mandy pretends to be Deirdre and falls in love with the prince who thinks that she is Deirdre. But when he finds out that Deirdre is Mandy will they both live happily ever after? The plot is predictable, the chemistry is nice between Taylor Cole and Jack Taylor, and overall it was a sweet cliched rom com. Parts of it reminds me of How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days with Maid In Manhattan.
Overall I give it 2 1/2 out of 5 stars.
